Versace x H&M

This has got to be the most creative and genius collaboration H&M has ever made - Versace x H&M. Donatella Versace has declared that the collaborated collection will contain many different prints and her very renowned Medusa logo. The collection doesn't hit stores and online until late November but I can assure you that it'll be like nothing you've ever seen before. I've got my eye on the black leather dress so Mom if you're reading this, you know what to do. ;] What do you think of the collection? Love it or hate it?

"Friend of the People"

Upcoming Lupe Fiasco mixtape?! YES! Lu dropped the first single off his "Friend of the People" mixtape yesterday and it's been catching the buzz from many Fiasco fans. He released the track "Lightwork" (download it here) which features Ellie Goulding and Bassnectar. The entire mixtape doesn't drop 'til Thanksgiving Day, but until the wait is over, I suggest you take a listen to  "Lightwork".

Occupy Wall Street!

This past weekend I finally had the privelage to remove something from my bucket list. Attending a non violent protest was something I've always wanted to do and I've finally reached that goal. Accompanied by my sister, we attended Day 1 of the Occupy Wall Street protest that's currently going on all over America. The highly anticipated protest began on Saturday, September 17th, in the Wall Street area. Later that evening I attended the general assembly at Zuccotti Park. Along with discontent citizens were special guests such as Lupe Fiasco and Immortal Technique. The purpose of Occupy Wall Street is to achieve one goal in which you and others believe in through the practice of civil disobedience. While there, I saw many unique and creative signs that expressed what people felt. Some believed in an end to racism and a better education system, while others believed in better health insurance, and a true democracy. What ever the case was, these people were legitimate troopers and I've gained respect for them while watching them chase after what they believe in - especially those who are actually camping out for days or weeks. After meeting some really interesting people on Wall Street, I've been inspired to stand up more often. Not only for myself, but for what my heart feels and desires. I've also had the chance to witness people standing together which was an act that was so powerful and courageous while being surrounded by the NYPD. However, I am certain that with the help of the protesters and the Fiasco Street Team, our goals will eventually be met. Occupy Wall Street is still going on so if interested, don't hesitate to have your own voice heard. :)

Happy Birthday, Michael Jackson!

On August 29, 1958, the world received the most precious talent from God. Michael Joseph Jackson was born and history was made. After his parents were amazed by his talent, they instantly harnessed a child prodigy. Despite the negativity displayed in the media, Michael Jackson "raised the bar and then BROKE the bar" as stated by Berry Gordy. Many have asked why I shared such an admiration for MJ. First of all, I didn't really have much of a choice. Escaping MJ's music was inevitable considering the fact that I was born into a household that played his music religiously before I could even walk or talk. Also, there was a part of MJ that the world wanted to know so bad - his secret to major success. MJ honed his craft immensely to the point where he became the first African-American to have a music video shown on MTV. Besides breaking down racial barriers, he experimented with music from different genres and grasped the attention of worldwide fans of all ages. Whether he sang Pop, R&B, or did some Rock & Roll, Jackson never failed to mesmerize and awe an audience ranging of fans from 5 years old to 80 years old. Truth be told, without MJ's iconic dance moves, brilliant sense of style, and amazing music, the world would not be as great as it is today. Having won over 366 awards, Michael Joseph Jackson is and will always be the King of Pop.

Watch the Throne: My Music Review

You may have heard Jay-Z and Kanye Wests' "H.A.M." and "Otis" religiously being played on the radio, but if you haven't listened to the remaining tracks on their collaborated album, you're seriously missing out on a great milestone in hip-hop and rap history. "Watch the Throne" was digitally released yesterday, August 8th, and has been highly anticipated by hardcore hip-hop/rap lovers like myself. It was originally supposed to be compelled of 5 tracks, however, the album contains 12 tracks and the deluxe edition contains 16. From the tracks that I've heard thus far, you should definitely stretch your wallet by a few extra bucks and cop the deluxe edition for those 4 extra dope tracks. I'm usually very skeptical about making decisions on whether or not an album is worth buying or being downloaded illegally. However, I highly recommend that you purchase the CD itself so you can actually own a piece of Hov x Yeezy history.

Daydreamin' about Lupe

It's been almost a day since Lupe Fiasco retweeted something I wrote to him and I still can't come to my senses and accept the fact that this is all real. It's crazy to fantasize and wonder what it would be like if your idol were to acknowledge your existance. I had already programmed it in my head that one day Lupe was going to know who I was or he was going to hear of me. I was in my room listening to Lupe himself until I decided to refresh his twitter (which I do every few hours) just to see if he posted anything new. I thought I was daydreaming when I saw "marsunivercity" along with my picture and a tweet of mine. It took me a few seconds and gasps of air to come back down from Mars and realize what had just happened. Lupe Fiasco retweeted ME. I screamed as loud as possible and got in trouble from my mom because she thought something happened to me. Looking back, that was pretty hilarious. However, something did happen to me. Something I've been wanting to happen since I was 12 finally came true. Lupe finally acknowledged my existance. Just to show you what happens when you never give up! ;]
